Does it really help us or just a superficial and in the event instead of keeping us healthy, it aids in worsening the natural movement of our colon.

People who claim that there are lots of dangers in colon cleansers usually make this category:

·        Using laxatives can cause dependency, and the colon will lose its natural peristalsis ability to empty toxic matter.

-This is true especially saline laxatives and laxative teas.

Before starting to use colon cleansers you should be aware of the dangers of colon cleansing as it may upset some part of the body during the entire course. There are certain colon cleansers that are not suitable to others. So it is advisable to consult your doctor before using any products. The dangers that are being said against colon cleansers are:

·        Colon cleansers will affect the natural peristalsis movement of the colon

·        Colon cleansers cause damage to the tissues in the intestinal wall and in the rectal opening.

Alternative health practitioners believe that the colon must be cleansed occasionally to clear out impacted feces so that it will perform naturally. A large majority of Physicians disagree. In their points of view the colon does not store waste material for months or years that has to be synthetically removed. There are Doctors who do not recommend colon cleansing and warn that the process may actually cause harm. Because according to them the colon is a self regulating organ and does not need help in performing its waste removal duty.

There are two main types of colon cleansing:

1.      Powdered or liquid supplement. This includes suppositories, teas and the likes.
2.      Colonic Irrigation or Colonic hydrotherapy. This include enema and hydrogen based.

Holistic practioners believe. That the colon is a sewage system and if it is not keep clean, fecal materials will stay there over a longer period of time and toxins will be absorbed into the body. They believe that a person have many several pounds of bowels in their colon which causes mucus to build and harden colon walls.

Scientist says this is not true. The colon knows how to do its job by constantly shading old cells, absorbing nutrients and keeping a subtle balance of bacteria and natural chemicals. Prying with this process can destroy the natural flow of colon’s job. The U.S. Food and Drug Administration do not regulate colonics.
