Activated charcoal is a fine black, odorless and tasteless powder which is made from woods. The healing effect of activated charcoal has been long used since the times of our ancient fathers. It has been used to prevent poison absorption from the gastro intestinal tract. In addition, activated charcoal is also used to treat various ailments such as diarrhea, vomiting, kidney failure, constipation and many more.
Activated charcoal is also used as water filters. When a piece of charcoal is place in a drinking water container overnight that water then becomes alkaline water. Charcoal has the ability to absorb material and some elements that maybe harmful to the body. The medical use of charcoal was initially used by the time of hypocrites and the first ailment ever treated at that time was epilepsy. It was only by the year 400BC that charcoal was discovered to treat poison.
Activated charcoal is one of the most effective agents to relieve poison in the gastro intestinal tract. It is taken an hour before a poison can absorb into the intestinal lining. Activated charcoals can greatly reduced toxicity from our body by adsorbing chemical toxins. The actual effectiveness of an activated charcoal depends on the severity of intoxication. Charcoal is taken within an hour of ingesting toxicity. The longer the delay of taking in charcoal after the poison was swallowed the lesser its effectivity.
Activated charcoal happens when chemicals such as tar, ammonia, formalin and gas are evaporated. After the process of evaporating toxic chemicals, charcoal is now treated with oxygen then it becomes activated. Activated charcoal does not absorbed into the blood but rather it absorbed into poisonous gas and chemicals and then it becomes carrier of toxins thus expelling them eventually. Charcoal is use to expel intestinal gas. When we suffer abdominal gas pain, our abdomen is polluted with toxic gas such as hydrogen, methane and carbon dioxide sometime it is mixed with ammonia. These gasses are attracted to charcoal thus, when we take charcoal internally, gases are attracted to charcoal and then it expel out together with charcoal. Activated charcoal is neither digested nor absorbed in the gastro intestinal tract so it does not retain in our stomach or colon.
How can a charcoal expelled in the body after taking it internally? The main purpose of taking in charcoal is to prevent poisonous substances from damaging our stomach and intestines. Charcoal unlike food, water and medications taken internally does not go to the process of digestion therefore, it does not stay in our stomach or colon it can either be excreted by itself or mix with feces to be excreted.
